dennis1231 asked:
I am looking for recommendations for a new mp3 player that does not require software to transfer music. I do not want to use iTunes or Windows Media Player. I do not want to use playlists, rate my music, or any other functions. I do not want to use music with digital rights management. I simply want the mp3 player to be recognized by Windows as a hard drive so I can drag and drop my music to the player and then select the folder or track I want to play. My iRiver H320 is perfect but it is dying and needs to be replaced. Any ideas?

Well unfortunately, most of the mp3 players that I’m aware require some sort of software to download music. Do a google search and see what comes up !

Most players, short of an iPod, when you hook them up to your computer it comes up as a “removable disk”…if that’s the case you can just right click the song you want, choose copy and then choose the “removable disk” on the list. At my house we have a few diff mp3 players which came with software but i never used it

Sandisks don’t. You run them directly off Windows media through folders. I like it.

If you have Windows XP with Media Player 10, the Creative Zen Vision M will allow you to Drag&Drop your files via Windows Explorer without installing any software since it’s an MTP (media transfer protocol) device.
There is a Korean alternative to your H320 but it’s rather old (2005, most probably discontinued). It’s the iAudio X5, in stock here:
